Weekly update from Principal Paolino

Dear Families:

Well, another school year has come to an end! As I write this email, I can't help but reflect on the incredible journey we have shared together this year. I want to thank each of you for not only supporting your children but for trusting and supporting our school staff as well. Each year presents its challenges, but along the way, our students and staff find a way to persevere, support one another and grow stronger as a result. This is extremely gratifying as we close out this year and look forward to the next.

As we enter the final few days of classes, our primary goals will be to maintain a quiet and productive learning environment and celebrate the accomplishments of our students, especially eighth-graders who move up to high school on Friday! I would like to thank the PTA for their time and effort in supporting the grade 8 dance and ensuring that our students experience memorable moments. It is always fun to see the students all dressed up and celebrate this milestone in their journey.

In aligning with our district's Weather Emergency Procedures, all activities must stay inside when the heat index is 95 or above. Tuesday’s (tomorrow's) grade 8 field trip will continue as planned, consisting of both Teams A and B, but with appropriate precautions in place.

However, Field Day, which will take place today and tomorrow, will now be in our gymnasium. Please be reminded to protect yourself and others by seeking cool environments, staying hydrated, monitoring for signs of heat-related illness, and paying close attention to children, pets and the elderly as they are more susceptible to heat-related illnesses.

Families of our eighth-grade students, please be reminded that our Moving-Up Ceremony will take place this Friday at 9 a.m., with mandatory rehearsals on Wednesday and Thursday, June 25 and 26. All visitors will be required to check in at the front door through our online visitor registration system and provide acceptable ID to be scanned. They will then proceed through security before entering the building. This process should move quickly; however, we recommend that visitors arrive early and have valid ID and admission tickets readily available. Please reserve balloons and gifts for after the ceremony as they will not be permitted in the auditorium. A holding room for these items will be set up in the Guidance Office.

Thank you again for your incredible support and commitment to your child's education. I am so grateful for your partnership and the positive impact it has had on our students' learning and growth. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our eighth-graders and bid them a fond farewell as they move on to the great things that await them in high school and beyond. Looking forward, we are excited to welcome our incoming sixth-grade students and our returning students!

In closing, I wish you and your family a safe and restful summer. You have earned it – so smile, relax and enjoy! Hopefully, we will have the opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends and return in the fall with a sense of rejuvenation.

See you next year!
